It Is Beautiful To See Things Develop For All – There’s Indeed No Place Like Home!
Flying into the country from my base in the United States of America can be such a chore for me sometimes, and that’s because Nigerian airspace is so easily identifiable once you enter it, especially at night.
As my flight had edged into my motherland’s airspace, I was instantly greeted by the familiar sight of “NEPA’s” diligent blackouts all over the land, and I couldn’t help the sad sigh that escaped my body.
However, after landing in Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria, the journey to my native Ezumoha, Isiala Mbano held so many pleasant surprises for me, and I must confess that they deeply gladdened my heart. Oh, yes, I am so happy, and I felt to share my experience and appreciation as I remembered everything again right now.
How can I even forget about it, though – the sweet development and progress I have come to encounter in this village during this visit are not only very heartwarming for me but also super encouraging that the future indeed holds more great and pleasant things for my people and hopefully this country, too.
According to reports, many of the admirable developments in the community are projects sponsored by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Being someone who is well versed in how things like this work in the Nigerian polity, I must sincerely commend all those who brought the attention of the Commission to these communities in Imo State, Nigeria, and also helped ensure that these projects were completed in record time and to world-class standards.
I mean, I cannot remember the last time that my drive through these communities has been this smooth and super comfortable. Ezumoha now has an impressively good road network that covers Anara, Umunakwa Hall, Umuarodo village in Ezumoha, my Obiukwu Duru and isi’obiama compound Road, Umunachi, Umakam, Oboh, and many other parts, and I am so excited and happy to see this.
The truth is that I had come into the country and headed straight to Imo State to attend several private, business, and political matters and meetings. One of these included a crucial meeting with a gubernatorial aspirant/candidate that I had accepted to be his running mate for the next elections in the State. However, due to what I have seen and am still seeing in several communities I’ve already visited, I will no longer be running for office with my principal for now.
I have never been one to shy away from living or speaking the truth boldly, undiluted, and without fear or bias, and I assure you that this is not about to change now or ever. I know many people have been waiting to read and see what I have to say about many things currently happening in Nigeria, but I have honestly been too perplexed to speak.
Due to the alarmingly pathetic and shambolic way, things were conducted during the last general elections, I had even restrained myself from congratulating someone like Princess Miriam Odinaka Onuoha, who returned elected as the Federal House of Representatives member representing Okigwe North Federal Constituency.
I also had issues with a good son of mine, Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, when he first told me not to listen to all I saw online against Governor Hope Uzodinma because it was propaganda, but I’m happy to see for myself now that he was right all along.
As much as I do not like the governor’s political party for many obvious reasons, I cannot but admit that I love the results he is presently delivering, and, as surprising as it may sound, I am firmly convinced that he deserves another term and even other opportunities to continue these laudable works and projects he has started – either directly or indirectly.
Governor Uzodinma isn’t the only governor Imo State has had while the NDDC has been in operation. Still, he looks to be delivering and succeeding where his predecessors, including even Rochas Okorocha and others, failed woefully. All the people experienced with them were empty words and promises, but now it looks like there is indeed Hope in Imo State.
My decisions and stand now are also further bolstered by the fact that I had called the governor and Hon. Princess’s attention to some of the projects that have been beautifully done and already commissioned now in October 2022, and they had promised that action would be taken on them. Honestly, I didn’t expect anything because I never believed they had the people’s interests at heart due to the many damaging reports I constantly see about them online.
However, they have proved me entirely wrong with all I have seen firsthand so far, and I am not one to be proud to admit when I am wrong about anything. An important lesson for everyone here, too, is to never judge people by what you hear and read online only, but try to see things for yourself before concluding.
Again, I am delighted about all I am seeing in Imo State presently, and I not only sue for continuity by asking that we allow Governor Uzodinma to continue the good works but also urge all well-meaning, qualified, experienced, and resourceful people home and abroad to please join forces with him also to improve the security, welfare, healthcare system, and other remaining areas of the State. He looks reformed and willing to cooperate and listen now, and this will be for the benefit of everyone in our great State and beyond!
Finally, I pray that may the good Lord continues to bless and increase all those involved in these projects in one way or the other. May HE impress it upon the hearts of all those in places of authority to do even more good for all the people and communities they were elected and selected to serve. And may we all continue to prosper, even as Nigeria thrives and breaks out of the shackles of obscurity and wicked leadership, in the name of Jesus Christ; Amen!
These developments, and some awesome people I’ve been able to spend a few days with here, have made this trip pretty worthwhile for me. I look forward to more shortly. And, who knows, Prof. Mgbeke may pass through your neighborhood during this visit, too.☺️
I love ❤️ you.
