3 Reasons Why Praise Is Much Better Than Prayer In Spiritual Warfare!
My fabulous Mgbekenized darlings, how are you all doing today? I hope this bout of cold and flu spreading worldwide hasn’t been able to keep you or your family down today.
I had the privilege of learning another great truth earlier today, and it is my pleasure to share it with you. There have been so many things and literature written about the efficacy and potency of prayers compared to praises, so I’m sure this subject is not entirely new to you.
“When prayer fails praises take charge and do wonders” – my husband said this while teaching me the importance of praises and so many things I am about to share with you here that I learned from him during our bedtime chit-chat last night.
However, do you know that no matter the avenue of reaching out to God you prefer, there are three fundamental reasons why you should consider praising more than praying while engaged in spiritual warfare? Here they are below:
(1) Prayer Is Unto God For You.
According to many theological definitions, a prayer is an act that involves you pleading God’s Word and precious promises over your life and all that concerns you.
When we pray to God, we are making requests of HIM through supplications and pleas and consistently putting HIM in remembrance about our situations so we can receive our desires from HIM. Hence, prayers are raised unto God as an act of worship, but they are essentially for us – HE has nothing to virtually benefit from them.
Don’t get me wrong, though; God loves it and commands us to pray always! As it is seen of Jesus Christ during HIS time on earth: “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;” – Luke 18:1.
The Apostle Paul also admonished us about this in his letter to the believers in Thessalonica. He said: “Pray without ceasing.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:17.
However, as much as we’re commanded to do this, we should also understand that prayers are unidirectional in terms of benefits for the parties involved. We are consistently asking during prayer and not giving. Even in your human relationships, wouldn’t you get tired if you have someone who never cares to give back to you in any way but is always demanding and very eager to take from you every day? Selah!
(2) Praises Are Unto God For HIM!
This is the opposite of my first point above, and this is easily evidenced even in our daily dealings with royalties, dignitaries, and top people around us in life.
In every custom and tradition worldwide, whenever anyone seeks an audience with a king, such must approach by singing and chanting the praises of that king to eulogize and curry favor and acceptance with them. How much more when you now do it to the King of all kings and the Lord of lords?
If anyone knew this truth most profoundly, I dare say it was King David! He says: “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, And into his courts with praise: Be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” – Psalm 100:4.
You must be thinking now that “but this is warfare, nah!” Yes, I hear you loud and clear, and I know it is warfare, yet I maintain that no amount of prayers can ever generate the mighty interventions your praises can raise!
Do you remember the story of Jehoshaphat and how God won a mighty tremendous victory for Israel in the book of 2 Chronicles chapter 20? That whole chapter embodies and displays the insanely awesome power that is in the praises of a believer who is faced with great battles and warfare!
“And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth forever. And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.” – 2 Chronicles 20:21-22.
These are two of my favorite verses in that scripture, but I urge you to please read the whole chapter, and you will have an even deeper understanding of this mysteriously great power in praises.
Or was it the time that Joshua and Israel stood before the great wall of Jericho and had to bring it down? What did God command them to do before attacking the city? Raise prayers and supplications? No. Instead, they did what many regarded as “stupid” back then, but on the 7th day of “being stupid” before man by God’s instructions, Jericho’s mighty wall sunk into the ground before them as they lifted a shout of praise to Jehovah! Please read Joshua chapter 6.
(3) Praises Create An Atmosphere For God To Dwell In As Nothing Else Can!
One last reason I want to urge you always to praise more than you pray, no matter the battles raging against you, is because praises draw God down into our situations and locations when we raise them to HIM.
David again said: “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. Our fathers trusted in thee: They trusted, and thou didst deliver them.” – Psalm 22:3-4.
God inhabits (dwells in) our praises as HIS children, and being in a continuous atmosphere of praises guarantees an ever-present filling of HIS presence, glory, and power. Remember how the temple of Solomon was dedicated, and what happened when the king had the priests and Levites bring in the Ark of Covenant in the proper way instructed by God?
“And it came to pass when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD.” – 1 Kings 8:10-11.
God came down, and HIS glory filled the entire temple, so much that nobody could stand inside it again that day. This is how powerful our praises are when we lift them to HIM.
So, in conclusion, my darlings, the question is that, now that you know, which would you rather deploy always when faced with great warfare and battles – those long nights and hours of prayers you’re used to or the hugely potent praises you’ve discovered again today?
May God arise in HIS power, mercy, and glory, turn around your story, and restore your joy, finances, and happiness. Father, please show Yourself strong in the lives of your children and give us the wisdom we need to be all You have ordained us to be…Amen!
Remain richly blessed always.
