Dr. Sandra C. Duru’s Voice of Nature | It’s Not Whether You Get Knocked Down, It’s Whether You Get Up

One time, a chef brought some eggs in an attempt to make scrambled eggs. As she stepped into the kitchen, the eggs went rolling on the floor. She was sad. She sat on the floor, devastated and eventually she dozed off. When she woke up, she perceived an offensive odour that filled the room. It was then she realized that the eggs had started to smell. She got up and cleaned. You want to ask, why should she get up to clean an occurrence that’s not her fault? As a matter of fact, she’s the victim. She’s the one who will go hungry, but that’s not how it works.

You may have been knocked down by circumstances you’re not even responsible for, but it’s your duty to get up and move on before the situation starts to rot like that egg.

Vince Lombardi said, “it is not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get up.” This is the truth. Most successful people have been through terrible times. What matters is that they were able to beat the odds and make something good out of the whole situation.

Let’s you walked into the chef’s house two days later and perceived the rotten egg. You ask why the house stinks, she says the eggs broke, and she is still sad about it. How would you feel? You’ll think, “the eggs broke so what? Get up and clean!”

This is how it is. Regardless of your situation, you should know that you can get up. You can be more than your experiences. You can be a victor and not a victim, you can beat the odds.
So yes, while your experience and pain is valid, it’s not enough to stay down. You must get up and continue.
