2 Commendable Points, Lessons As Davido Reveals Igbo Heritage On Grandma’s 11th Death Anniversary
Multiple award-winning and world-famous Nigerian music superstar David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, left many of his fans and several Nigerians stunned on July 23, 2022, after the music star disclosed that his grandmother is from the South-East part of Nigeria (Igbo).
Davido made the disclosure as he penned a concise but lovely message to commemorate the 11th anniversary of her death.
Putting up a picture of his “Nana’s” remembrance poster released by the Adeleke Family on his Instastory, the DMW boss said: “Yes, my grandma is Igbo… Miss you, mama.”
Madam Nnena Esther Adeleke passed on to glory 11 years ago, and the Adelekes speaking through Adedeji Adeleke (Davido’s father), described their late mother as a very amiable, humble, and good woman who was loved by all.
While thousands of remarks and lovely comments continue to pour in all over social media over the music star’s Igbo heritage, we have a crucial observation and lesson we want everyone to note below.
(1) Davido’s love, passion, and unrelenting selflessness for his family is an example every home should show and teach their children from early childhood! It is simply amazing!
How he goes all out for his family and commits everything to ensure they succeed is so surreal, and one cannot but wonder what kind of human he is.
One of the few genuine and very good ones left, we dare say, and his antecedents are no secrets or hidden things to the public. Simply put: Davido is a rare and glittering gem in the House of Adeleke, and this is all about his personality and not even his musical talent!
(2) Davido embodies the spirit and culture of Africa that stays grounded and very proud of our roots, no matter the level of Western exposure or distance traveled!
The way he is always eager and swift to identify with his African heritage and diverse roots is another thing we need to teach our children as they grow.
No matter where you come from, don’t ever trade in your heritage and roots for another person’s culture! Whether you’re Black, White, Asian, Latino, Indian, Aborigine, or from the chilliest places of Arctartica, your heritage, culture, and roots define and make you who you are.
Hence, like Davido is always quick to do, you must cherish and be proud of it wherever you go!
He is a shining beacon in this age where many people don’t seem to care about things like culture, roots, and heritage anymore, and he is one we believe should be well celebrated and hailed for his unique and commendable ways.
Odogwu David, you are doing well! Remain blessed always, Nwanne.
What do you think of the way Davido identifies with his roots and also stands solidly behind his family and relatives whenever they need him?
