In 2019, the Lagos State government in Nigeria needed another astute legal luminary to assume the mantle of its top legal custodian and crusader. On August 20, 2019, that honor fell to you, Mr. Moyosore Jubril Onigbanjo SAN.

Then the Managing Partner of M.J Onigbanjo & Co., you were sworn in as the 16th Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Lagos State, Nigeria, and it has been a roller coaster of different events and achievements ever since.

Honestly, many are always wary and downright afraid of leaving what they’re used to and accepting significant challenges like you did. After serving as Managing Partner of M.J Onigbanjo & Co. for over 20 years, it may have been understandable if you had opted to “stick to familiar waters” by rejecting the appointment – especially seeing how volatile a state like Lagos State can be.

Never known for backing down in the face of difficulty or challenges, though, you gladly left your comfort zone and took up the enormous task of leading the Lagos State Justice Department back to a place where the residents and people of the state would be able to have absolute faith in it again.

While it hasn’t been smooth sailing all through, we must note that your penchant for excellence, exceptional litigation and arbitration skills, and superb interpersonal qualities have stood you out amongst your peers in the country and have made the Lagos State Justice Department an example that every other state has been actively striving to emulate.

This led to the honor bestowed upon you in June 2022, as you were appointed as the Chairman of the Body of Attorneys General of the States of the Federation in Nigeria. A mandate you have gracefully handled and also flourished in ever since.

Your antecedents and present achievements speak for themselves, and none could ever “overblow” your trumpet because you are genuinely outstanding and unique in all you do.
